American Math (Icon Mexico) was inspired by an English Rap artist (Holly McNear) who wrote a blistering retort to British xenophobia regarding its treatment of Pakistanis and other Middle East refugees who settle in England looking for a better life as a result of the West’s obsession with destabilizing their respective home countries through war and resources extortion. My collage simply wants to celebrate Mexican iconography in all its beauty, surrealism, and mystery.
