This was my very first attempt at painting with oils–this was around 1978. I created a series of shapes that I cut from cardboard (hands, lightning bolts, balloons, an abstract outline of a child), layered them on a canvas and proceeded to create tapestries of colors. Pretty elementary stuff. Some of my friends liked them, so I gave them all away, but took photos of them to prove they really existed. When I started creating digital collages, I found these photos, scanned them, and started saturating them in colors, making them more vibrant and what I actually thought they should look like in my mind’s eye.
